It feels like the game is written by 2 people, one good writer who writes vast majority of the text and one immature teenager who scribbles their dumb jokes and hot takes over the work of the first one. Don't get me wrong, I like most of the writing in the game but there are quite a number of baffling parts, especially in responses your character can give. And you have to go out of your way to fight them. It's actually worse, the "villain" is the most last-minute decision and feels entirely contrived. It feels forced and rushed and the game was criticized for it so I thought they would fix. You played the game, you played the game and at some point, devs realized oh yeah we need to end this aaaand here is the bad guy. The game lacks a good villain or at least a memorable antagonist. Now problems that I think will be much more difficult to fix in few months: Not a fun or interesting mechanic in a classic RPG. On top of not having cash like in ATOM, shopkeepers are now way pickier about which loot they like and don't. Pretty much the whole game I had backpack full of trash that I was constantly peddling around. Why do does the dev think peddling stuff between 10 small shops and 1 caravan is a good game mechanic? Barter gives them more money but also makes your loot way more valuable. Nbd since I played as lone wolf, though more will likely be added. The game lacks companions, there was one I was able to pick up among the revolutionaries (and I assume among cops on the other side), but that was it.Likewise the perks fore dealing damage to animals/mutants are pretty useless since you hardly if ever encounter challenging ones ![]() We hear about the northern invasion that I thought you'll travel to their camps at some point but no. Here you are in Trudograd the whole time and it feels too quick. In ATOM you had the intermission where you traveled to different lands and it provided a break from the standard. The game feels short, especially towards the end.The problem is exhausted by the fact that at least half of the weapons from ATOM are useless trash for you since you start with good weapons from the beginning, more on that later. I am happy there is way more melee weapons, in ATOM I used sabre 2/3 of the game because Lenin quest was bugged and never started. Though I admit this will get fixed and it's a minor gripe. Once in a revolutionary shop, I saw a guy selling something slightly better that I did not want to spend money on but I never saw it since. I picked rifles and used SKS that was in the closet pretty much the whole game (later changed to Chinese version with more ammo). In ATOM (first game) I played pure melee so I didn't keep track of all the guns but I feel like there was more there. Now things that I had issues with a bug with likely be fixed with full release: And I like the changes to skills and abilities, they feel much more impactful and interesting. I love the hand-drawn pictures and little quests where you pick decisions while the narrator tells the story, neat. Audiovisually the game is fantastic, one of the best looking games of its kind since the revival of the genre 5-6 years ago. Below whenever I say ATOM I mean the first game, otherwise I mean Trudograd.įirst with the good. But since I was able to complete the game with all the quests but one (gambling quest, I don't think the masters are in the game yet) I got a representative sample to make an opinion. Let me prefix this that I fully understand that Trudograd v0.9 is an unfinished game and there are a number of things that will get added and polished. Hi, I played both games right after each other (Trudograd v0.9) and I wanted to share my thoughts on the differences, what has improved, and what didn't.
